The MAP-CA DSP MPEG-2 Decoder Media Library Reference Source Code is intended to provide a basis for customer development of MPEG-2 decoder software, and has not yet been fully optimized for performance, nor does it contain comprehensive error handling or other production-level code routines. As such, it does not demonstrate the full potential performance of optimized code running on the MAP-CA DSP. Even so, the current MAP-CA DSP MPEG-2 video decoder can decode an MPEG-2 MP@ML video stream in real time with less than 27% of the processing resources of the MAP-CA DSP. The MAP-CA DSP MPEG-2 video decoder is capable of decoding two MP@ML video streams in real time, with sufficient cycles left to perform other tasks, such as the audio and system decoding.
