    Micromem Technologies Inc. Completes Private Placement and Extends Term of Warrants

    TORONTO AND NEW YORK, Dec. 1 /PRNewswire/ - Micromem Technologies Inc. (the "Company") announces the completion of a non-brokered, arm's length private placement of 400,000 Units at a subscription price of CDN $0.20 per Unit for the gross proceeds of CDN $80,000. Each Unit is comprised of one common share ("Common Share") and one common share purchase warrant ("Warrant"). Each Warrant may be exercised for one Common Share at an exercise price of CDN $0.22 for a period of one year. The proceeds from the offering will be used for general working capital purposes and the shares will be subject to resale restrictions.

    The Company has extended the term of 2,448,720 warrants with an average strike price of $0.60 issued November, 2009 thru February, 2010 for a further six months from date of original expiry. 

    The Company's press release dated November 5, 2010 stated the term of warrants issued was for a period of six months.  The correct term of the warrants is for a period of one year.

    Cognizant Announces Share Repurchase Program

    TEANECK, N.J., Dec. 1, 2010 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Cognizant , a leading provider of information technology, consulting and business process outsourcing services, today announced that its Board of Directors, on December 1, 2010, authorized a share repurchase program of up to $150 million of the Company's common stock over the next 12 months.

    Consumers in Brazil and Argentina Most Likely to Make Purchases Online, Females More Likely Than Males to Buy Online in Latin AmericacomScore Releases Study on Latin American E-Commerce Landscape

    BOGOTA, Colombia, Dec. 1, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- comScore, Inc. , a leader in measuring the digital world, today released results from a study of the e-commerce landscape in Latin America. The study, which surveyed nearly 800 respondents, looked at e-commerce activity across Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Colombia and Peru as well as online banking behaviors, mobile activity and Twitter usage. The study found that although the majority of visitors to e-commerce sites in Latin America make purchases online, retailers still face obstacles in converting many consumers to online shoppers due to concerns over transaction security, availability of payment options and the selection of goods available online. The results of the study were also presented to the Latin America E-Commerce Association event held in Bogota on December 1.

    "Relative to other global regions, the e-commerce industry in Latin America is still in its infancy, but consumers are showing encouraging signs of adopting the channel," said Alejandro Fosk, senior vice president of Latin America for comScore. "With 3 out of 5 Internet users in Latin America visiting retail sites each month, it is clear that consumers are interested in online shopping. In order to convert these browsers to buyers, retailers need to address consumers' concerns about purchasing online in order to help the e-commerce industry develop to its full potential in this region."

    E-Commerce Site Visitors in Brazil Most Likely to Make Purchase

    Among those who visited e-commerce sites in Latin America, 79 percent of males reported making an online purchase, while 88 percent of females reported doing so. Across the markets included in the survey, Brazil showed the highest percentage conversion of online e-commerce site visitors to purchasers with 94 percent of visitors in Brazil making an online purchase. Argentina followed at 89 percent, with 84 percent of e-commerce site visitors in Colombia doing so.

    Of those that did not purchase online, security ranked as the main concern among prospective shoppers. Specifically, 68 percent of females listed security concerns as a reason why they do not make purchases online, with 48 percent of males reporting this as a reason. Preferring to shop in person rather than online was also a main deterrent to online shopping, with 38 percent of males and 32 percent of females reporting this as a reason. Consumers also reported that type of payment options offered hindered their adoption of online purchasing (35 percent of males, 32 percent of females) as well as shipping costs (30 percent of males, 42 percent of females).

    An analysis of consumer preferences regarding purchasing at international versus local e-commerce websites revealed that consumers in Argentina have the strongest preference to shop at local websites with 3 out of 4 consumers preferring this option. More than half of consumers in Brazil and Colombia also preferred shopping at local websites, while slightly more than half of consumers in Mexico, Chile and Peru preferred international websites for online shopping.

Cancun and Riviera Maya have been rated the No. 1 and No. 2 "Safe Places" to visit in Mexico, and expanded airfare service in the wake of Mexicana Airlines folding has resulted in airfare competition and deals for the consumer. Virgin America, Continental Airlines and Southwest Airlines have since increased service to Cancun, while other carriers such as United Airlines and U.S. Airways have increased service to up-and-coming destinations like Mexico City.     Bermuda: Cruise lines like Carnival and Holland America have been increasing itineraries to Bermuda, and this stepped up competition will result in significant deals to this highly-rated island.     WASHINGTON, Dec. 1, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Federal Communications Commission Chairman Julius Genachowski on Wednesday (Dec. 1) laid out his proposal for rules dealing with the issue of net neutrality.     German Court Upholds Fines Against Rapidshare For Violating InjunctionDecision reaffirms Rapidshare's accountability for the presence of pirated works on its website

    HAMBURG, Germany, Dec. 1, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- The Regional Court of Hamburg has upheld the imposition of fines in excess of 150,000 Euros against Rapidshare and its principals that the Court had imposed for violating the injunction it issued earlier this year. The injunction was obtained in February 2010 by Bedford, Freeman and Worth Publishing Group, LLC a subsidiary of Macmillan; Cengage Learning Inc.; Elsevier Inc; John Wiley & Sons, Inc.; The McGraw-Hill Companies, Inc.; and Pearson Education, Inc. It prohibits Rapidshare from allowing 148 of those publishers' copyright-protected works to be made publicly available in digital form on Rapidshare.com. After obtaining the injunction, the publishers discovered that most of the injunction-protected works continued to be available on Rapidshare.com. As a result, the publishers moved the Court to impose the fines.

    In upholding the fines, the German court made it clear that Rapidshare must implement effective measures to prevent illegal file sharing of the 148 works. In its initial ruling issuing the injunction, the court had ruled that Rapidshare was required to monitor its site to ensure that the publishers' copyrighted content was not uploaded and that users could not gain unauthorized access to the material. The Court has now concluded that Rapidshare "... culpably failed to take reasonable examination and control measures. These measures include the utilization of a word filter, which checks the file name during the uploading of files to the servers of [Rapidshare] with regard to whether the author, the title, the ISBN number of the publisher may be contained in this name. ...In addition to the installation of a word filter for new uploads to [its] servers [Rapidshare is] also...required to search the relevant popular external link libraries for links to files with the works in dispute."

    "The measures the court has imposed on Rapidshare by this resolution provide needed safeguards to protect these titles in the future from unlawful copying and distribution, reduce downloading of infringing material, and prevent businesses like Rapidshare from profiting from unauthorized access to and illegal distribution of copyrighted works," stated Dr. Ursula Feindor-Schmidt, an attorney representing the publishers.

    According to the publishers, the Court's decision will help level the playing field so as to foster true innovation - creative original innovation - by prohibiting business models that are based on copyright theft.     Choice Hotels International Launches New Travel Agent Commission SystemGlobal Franchisor Selects Dell Services to Implement New Sole Source Disbursement for Travel Agent Commissions

    SILVER SPRING, Md., Dec. 1, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Leading lodging franchisor Choice Hotels International, Inc. is pleased to announce Dell Services as the sole source for processing all travel agent commission payments for Choice Hotels brand properties. This decision comes as a result of the company's ongoing efforts to provide industry travel agents with prompt payments and best-in-class customer service.

Choice will be able to provide a central help desk to assist with payment inquiries, comprehensive reporting, and a shorter payment cycle for many agents."

    The new system will not require any changes or actions by travel agents in order for them to begin taking advantage of the new, more efficient payment process. Choice Hotels will continue to work to implement new systems and processes to provide travel agents with the highest levels of customer service and satisfaction.
